Lance Mason

Lance T. Mason is a former judge for the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. He formerly was Democratic member of the Ohio Senate, and represented the 25th District from 2007 to 2008. Nina Turner currently represents his former district. Prior to that, he was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2002 to 2006, where he served as Assistant Minority Whip in 2006. He is a former assistant Cuyahoga County prosecuting attorney and aide to Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones. In August 2008, Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland announced that he would appoint Mason to fill a vacancy on the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas.
Mason holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, and a B.A. from the College of Wooster.
On September 16, 2015, Lance Mason was sentenced to two years in prison for the beating of his wife in which he beat her with a closed fist 20 times and smashed his wife's head against the center console of the automobile while he was driving a car in which his wife was a passenger and his children were passengers in the back seat. Lance Mason had plead guilty to attempted felonious assault and domestic violence on August 13, 2015. The Ohio Supreme Court had removed him from the bar on September 3, 2015 for being a convicted felon. As a convicted felon, he is prohibited under Ohio law from being a judge in an Ohio Court.
